Carousel is playing and Roger Byrt's Canyonlands art exhibition is showing at Eastgate Gallery

A special night of music and art has been organised at Hawthorn's Eastgate Gallery, 158 Burwood Road.

Did I hear someone say soiree? Well not quite, but it will have that intimate feel, and it will be a fabulous fusion of music and art.

So the night in question is Wednesday 9 August 2017 from 6pm.

Carousel, L to R, Susan Colien-Reid, Francesca Mountfort,
Peter and Eli Mrkusich
New Zealand band Carousel will play their unique brand of music (strings with vocals) whilst you have the opportunity to view Eastgate Gallery's current exhibition of the artwork of Roger Byrt.

The exhibition 'Canyonlands' runs from 22 July to 19 August 2017.

If you love and appreciate art, this exhibition of Roger Byrt oils will introduce you to some amazing and very detailed work.

If you haven't heard of Carousel, I recommend you take this rare opportunity to hear them live.

In their own words - “Having had a decade-long break, Carousel are meeting up in Melbourne in August to rekindle the long awaited but not forgotten fire their instruments create when they're together. Strumming their unorthodox rhythms and bowing their lively, carnivalesque gypsy melodies.

Carousel consists of cellist Francesca Mountfort, violinist/vocalist Susan Colien-Reid and the father and son team of Peter and Eli Mrkusich on guitar, mandolin, and banjo. This unorthodox line-up of instruments is the seedbed from which their innovations spring, guiding the listener through the many mysterious and intriguing shades of the carnival.

What better way to spend an evening than with great music and fine art. This is a unique event.

Enjoy!
